Detroit Digital Justice Coalition invites you to the next DISCO TECH: DISCOvering TECHnology for free Community Workshops on Housing Information and Technology.

SATURDAY, MARCH 29, 2014

At MICHIGAN WELFARE RIGHTS ORGANIZATION
23 E. ADAMS ST, DETROIT, MI 48226
Within Central United Methodist Church, free parking in the lot on Elizabeth St. at Woodward Ave.

The event is free, open to all ages and is wheelchair accessible.

This special Disco Tech will highlight housing information and technology for all area residents. The event is free and all ages are welcome. Low-income families are especially encouraged to attend.

Residents of the community can participate in hands-on stations such as, “how to use online tools to search for and secure housing,” “how to start an email account,” and “how to access online services for low-income residents.” There will also be stations for attendees to learn more about veterans’ rights, and welfare rights with regard to the Department of Human Services, utility companies, etc. Children and adults will be able to make their own media about their experiences of housing and homelessness in Detroit.

There will be music and a special performance by Will See Poet MC at 12:30 p.m. sharp.

The Detroit Digital Justice Coalition is comprised of people and organizations in Detroit who believe that communication is a fundamental human right. We are securing that right through activities that are grounded in the digital justice principles of access, participation, common ownership, and healthy communities.

DDJC member organizations include: Allied Media Projects, Michigan Welfare Rights Organization, Detroit Sierra Club, 5E Gallery, East Michigan Environmental Action Council, the Reading Corner of Kemeny Recreation Center, 48217 Environmental Health and Community Organization, the Mt. Elliot Makerspace, and The Work Department.
